Romito Grotto
                              Papasidero, Cosenza

The investigations and the archaeological excavations in this cave were directed by the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici della Calabria and by the Istituto Italiano di preistoria e protostoria under the supervision of Professor Paolo Graziozi and the collaboration of PhD. Mara Guerri and Professor Santo Tinè. The discoveries date from the High Paleolithic (19,000 years before present times). It is important to point out the discovery in the outside part of the cave of a tomb which still had two short people. Nowadays, in the same place you can find a replica. It is also remarkable the engraving of a bovine, the “Bos primingenius” on the walls of a large calcaneous area.
